Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. - Martin Luther

RUMMAGE SALE

CtK's Family & Youth Team is hosting their first annual (?) Rummage Sale TOMORROW, Saturday, May 1st, from 7am-Noon.
There are many treasures and bargains to be had, so get up early and come shop!
Many thanks to all those who have donated stuff and to those who have donated some time and hard work to make this happen.
All the funds will be used to support the Family & Youth Ministry of the congregation, including this summer's mission trip to the Yakama Reservation in Washington state.
Psalm 148
1Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights!
2Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his host!
3Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars!
4Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!
5Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created.
6He established them forever and ever; he fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.
7Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps,
8fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling his command!
9Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars!
10Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds!
11Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth!
12Young men and women alike, old and young together!
13Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven.
14He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his faithful, for the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the Lord!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 40th International Earth Day. How are you celebrating?

You might consider gathering up all the empty glass bottles and jars in your house and get them ready for the Gallatin Zero Waste Coalition Glass Recycling this weekend. You can recycle glass bottles and jars at Bogert Park this Saturday, April 24th, 9am-2pm, during the Gallatin Earth Celebration Clean-Up Day. And if you want to help finance the recycling effort, Adopt a Ton! Just $29 pays for a ton of glass to be crushed and recycled. To donate, visit the Yellowstone Business Parternship site. (You can donate more or less if you want, too)_.
Ever wondered what the ELCA has to say about the environment and faithful stewardship of creation? Check out the 1993 Social Statement, Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope and Justice.
From the prologue:
Christian concern for the environment is shaped by the Word of God spoken in creation, the Love of God hanging on a cross, the Breath of God daily renewing the face of the earth.
Thanks be to God for his amazing creation!

Good Friday - prayer

From Book of Common Worship

O crucified Jesus,
Son of the Father,
conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
eternal Word of God,
we worship you.

O crucified Jesus,
holy temple of God,
dwelling place of the Most High,
gate of heaven,
burning flame of love,
we worship you.

O crucified Jesus,
sanctuary of justice and love,
full of kindness,
source of all faithfulness,
we worship you.

O crucified Jesus,
ruler of every heart,
in you are the treasures of wisdom and knowledge,
in you dwells all the fullness of the Godhead,
we worship you.

Jesus, Lamb of God,
have mercy on us.

Jesus, bearer of our sins,
have mercy on us.

Jesus, redeemer of the world,
grant us peace.

Maundy Thursday - Prayer

A prayer of Ambrose of Milan - Fourth century

Jesus, I wish you would let me wash your feet, since it was through walking about in me that you soiled them. I wish you would give me the task of wiping the stains from your feet, because it was my behavior that put them there. But where can I get the running water I need to wash your feet? If I have no water, at least I have tears.
