Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. - Martin Luther

Great American Backyard Camp Out!

If the weather holds, CtK will be participating in the Great American Backyard Camp Out tomorrow night, Saturday, June 25th. Folks will start to gather on the congregation's lawn at 5pm, pitch tents, grill dinner and make s'mores! (Please bring your own camping gear and food). Then they'll spend the night under the stars and get up in time for OUTDOOR WORSHIP on Sunday morning.
Even if you aren't planning on spending the night, consider bringing a camp chair or picnic blanket to sit on during worship on Sunday morning (not to mention sunblock or a hat!).
Let's enjoy God's beautiful creation together!

New Vision this weekend

CtK is fortunate to host New Vision, an international Youth Encounter team, this weekend. These five young adults will lead worship (with an international beat) and share their faith with us. It's going to be great!
New Vision spent several months ministering to children and youth in western Australia, and this summer will be traveling in the US to lead worship, Vacation Bible Schools, and share the good news of Jesus with all kinds of folks! You can learn more about their time in Australia in their newsletter.
Invite your friends and neighbors to join you in worship this Sunday at 9am! And, if you can serve as a host family overnight on Saturday night, let me know ASAP. As of this writing, we still need a place for two of the guys to sleep on Saturday night! Thanks!

Party Time!

This Sunday we celebrate the Day of Pentecost - the coming of the Holy Spirit that made possible the spreading of the good news of Jesus' resurrection. The Day of Pentecost is often called the "birthday of the Church." And so we're going to have a party! Wear red, orange or yellow to worship (the "flame" colors of those tongues dancing on the apostles' heads). Bring a gift from the "Wish List" (below) to share with the rest of the congregation. Hear about CtK's upcoming capital campaign during a special congregational meeting at the end of worship. Bring a tasty dish to share for the potluck brunch after worship. It's going to be a great day, celebrating the 44th anniversary of the congregation and 6th anniversary of the "new" building!

Thank you

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”
Matthew 25:35

Over the weekend I attended the Montana Synod Assembly in Great Falls, MT with Pastor Lindean, Jane Mangold, and John Sheppard from Christ the King.

Good news was shared with us and the other voting members and guests of the assembly that I want to pass on to you.

Christ the King ranked third in our regional church body (Montana Synod) for being generous in our gifts towards the Evangelical Lutheran Church Hunger Appeal for 2010. And we were less than $500 from being the number one ranked congregation.

What makes this news even more remarkable is that we gave the greatest amount of gifts for a congregation of our size.

You are making a difference here in the Gallatin Valley and across the globe.

In the name of our Lord Jesus I say, “thank you.”
